In 1999, EgoSoft's [[Community:Bernd Lehahn|Bernd Lehahn]] contacted Pritchett just prior to the release of X-Beyond the Frontier.  Lehahn stated that TradeWars had been an influence in the development of X-BTF.  Pritchett consulted with Lehahn for several months on a proposed persistent X universe.  He later joined the X team to develop a new flight model for X5.
